Veterans Services Overview Veterans Services Overview

From the “Welcome Home” banner on its door to the club-like atmosphere inside, the Veterans Outreach Base and drop-in center at Monadnock Family Services is a haven where military veterans – particularly those who have served in combat – can make the connections they’re looking for and find the support they need.

For decades, Monadnock Family Services has reached out to men and women who have served in our armed forces – connecting them with social services and talking with them individually and in groups to heal the wounds of war that are expressed not in physical damage but in anger, broken relationships, depression, homelessness, and unemployment.

Through our outreach base, veterans also have access to MFS’s team of nurses, psychiatrists, employment specialists, and others who can help with a range of personal issues.  Our case managers also help those who have served find housing, financial assistance, aid with heating fuel, and other necessities.

For veterans living in the Jaffrey area, similar services are available at the Monadnock Adult Care Center.

For information, call 603-357-4400 or come by our Veterans Outreach Base at the corner of Railroad and 93rd streets in Keene, New Hampshire.

Client Success Story

Understanding Military Culture

Monadnock Family Services was a sponsor for a day-long program in Keene – one of nine statewide – to help mental health professionals achieve a better understanding of military culture. The program was conducted with leadership from the New Hampshire National Guard as Guardsmen and Reservists and their families prepare for the largest deployment of troops in the state’s history.

Ruth Recovered Her Life Through In SHAPE

I was suffering from depression, anxiety, and agoraphobia. Starting the In SHAPE program wasn’t easy for me, having to meet people at a certain time, go to a gym where there were a lot of other people, and discuss myself with a mentor. But my first mentor was a perfect match for me.
