Family Services Overview
In our Monadnock Family Resource Center, trained and experienced professionals can answer your questions about parenting and family issues. You’ll also find a variety of family support and parent education courses, including mentoring for new mothers and a special support program for new and first-time dads. We even have home visitors who can show you exactly how to best support your child’s healthy development and pre-school learning. To ease the challenges of parenting even more, we can help you find other resources and services in the Monadnock area to enrich your knowledge and skills as a parent.
Our programs and services for families include:
- BabyTime. Nurses and trained home visitors visit moms during their pregnancy and the first year of the baby’s life to ensure that baby and mother get off to the best start.
- WeeTime. A weekly play group for parents and their infants, toddlers, and young children.
- Young MomzTime. A weekly support circle for women 24 or younger who are pregnant or new mothers.
- FamilyTime. Trained specialists visit families in their homes to help families become stronger, learn to communicate more effectively, and find the community resources they need.
- DadTime. A “dads only” environment in which new or expecting fathers can ask questions, share experiences, and learn diapering, discipline, and other baby-related techniques in a series of group sessions with a knowledgeable dad who’s also a trained parent educator.
- Just for Dads. A three-hour boot camp for new dads where they learn to feed, burp, diaper, and soothe their babies.
- Nurturing Parenting. A 15-week parent education course that helps moms and dads learn to communicate with their child and each other, manage stress, and discipline constructively. Free childcare is provided.
- Circle of Parents. A support group where parents can share experiences, ask for advice, and find relief from the isolation that new parents often feel.
- Adoptive Parent Support Circle. Parents who have adopted, or are contemplating adoption, can ask and answer questions, share concerns, and find support.
- All R Kids Supervised Visitation Center. The center is a neutral, safe place where non-residential parents can visit their children and where divorced parents can exchange children without placing children in the middle of confrontations between adults.
- Mediation. Trained mediators facilitate negotiated settlement of disputes between family members. A new service provides mediation services for elders in community housing facilities.
